About Ted

Daley Family PictureTed Daley graduated from Preston-Fountain High School in southern Minnesota and has been a resident of Eagan for 10 years. Ted currently serves on the Eagan Planning Commission, is Cubmaster for Pack 446, an active lector at St John Neumann Catholic Church, and has coached soccer, basketball and track through Eagan Athletic Association. Ted received his MBA from the University of St Thomas with an emphasis in accounting and is an actively licensed certified public accountant (CPA).

In 1984 Ted accepted a nomination to attend West Point where he graduated four years later with a double language major in Russian and German and a minor in Engineering. As a new 2nd Lieutenant Ted volunteered for an overseas assignment in Korea. After successfully completing his first tour of duty, he was reassigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Just a short while later, he deployed with his artillery unit to serve in Operation DESERT SHIELD/ DESERT STORM in 1990/1991.

After Ted completed his active duty obligation, he returned to Minnesota to be near family. He joined an Army Reserve unit and a short while later became the Deputy Commander’s aide-de-camp. Ted received his MBA in 1996 and worked for Coopers & Lybrand, at the time, one of the “Big Six” CPA firms in the country. While there he received the designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and then utilized that knowledge when he transitioned to his new role at US Bancorp as an acting VP for Fraud (Prevention) Policy and Strategy. It was during this time, Ted served on the Board of Directors for the US Federal Credit Union (1997-2001).

After 9/11 with the country needing his military services once again, Ted answered the call and went back on active duty. He served on continuous active duty from 2001 until February 2009. During this turbulent time in our country, Ted deployed to the Middle East in 2003 (Israel) where he served in the Strategic Liaison Cell, to Cuba where he served as the US European Command Liaison Officer (returned home to Eagan in 2005) and to Iraq for 2008 where he served as Sr. Economics Advisor on the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT). While not deployed overseas during these years, Ted worked at Ft Snelling as the Chief of Joint Operations, an active duty military leadership position with Navy, Army, Air Force and National Guard members.

Since completing his deployment in Iraq, Ted gained valuable executive leadership experience as General Manager for a small privately-held manufacturing company. This position gave Ted a great understanding of the challenges small businesses face in the State of Minnesota.  During these final weeks of the campaign, look for Ted door knocking in your neighborhood as he works full-time to meet as many of you as he can!
The importance of integrity, discipline and accountability are threads of continuity throughout Ted’s entire military and civilian career. Equally important is his service ethic to the country. Throughout Ted Daley’s military career, he has served on the national and international level and now as a civilian has continued that service and extended it to the local community. In his free time Ted enjoys camping with his family and watching his kids play soccer, basketball and volleyball.
